Verdict (our assessment)
Choose Claude Code when terminal-first work, automation, hooks, skills and use across several surfaces matter most. Choose Cursor when the editor itself should be the primary AI workspace and the team wants agent capabilities integrated into that environment.
No coding benchmark was run. Test both against the same private repository task with identical acceptance criteria and record commands, diffs, test results and human-review time.
