Anthropic doubled Claude Code's five-hour rate limits on May 6, 2026. The change covers Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise plans. Anthropic also removed the peak hours limit reduction on Claude Code for Pro and Max accounts.

What changed

Anthropic's post "Higher usage limits and a SpaceX compute deal", dated May 6, 2026, states three things:

  • Claude Code's five-hour rate limits are doubled for Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise plans.
  • The peak hours limit reduction on Claude Code is removed for Pro and Max accounts.
  • API rate limits for Claude Opus models are raised. The post gives the figures in a table, which we do not repeat here.

The post links the increase to a compute agreement with SpaceX for capacity at its Colossus 1 data center. It describes more than 300 megawatts of new capacity.

A separate Claude support article, "Use the Claude Agent SDK with your Claude plan", carries an update dated June 15. It says Anthropic is pausing changes to Agent SDK usage that were described on that page. For now, the Agent SDK, claude -p and third-party app usage still draw from your subscription's usage limits. The monthly credit that had been announced in connection with those changes is not available. Anthropic says it will share an update before anything takes effect.

What this does not say

The post does not give the old or new limits as message or token counts for each plan. It does not say whether weekly limits changed. It does not say how long the change lasts. The support article does not give a new date for the paused Agent SDK change.

Who should check what

Subscription users who run Claude Code in long sessions can check their usage view against the new five-hour limit. Teams that script claude -p or the Agent SDK under a subscription should watch the support article, since Anthropic says the plan is still being updated.
