Worked cost examples
Illustrative usage-unit example — not a quoted price.
A Zap runs 1,000 times and completes three billable actions on every run. That shape implies 3,000 tasks before retries or additional successful actions. Trigger steps and the built-in steps Zapier lists as non-billable should not be added.
If the design uses Zapier MCP, include the vendor's current task charge per successful call. If it uses Agents, model activities separately from the Zap task allowance.
Costs to watch
Zapier states that accounts can move to pay-as-you-go after reaching the task limit unless that behaviour is changed, and that the pay-per-task rate is higher than base subscription tasks. Agent activities and MCP calls need separate attention.
Which plan to choose
Choose a tier from measured successful actions, not total workflow steps. Include expected retries, seasonal peaks, MCP calls and agent activity before deciding.
